Ashleigh Nicole is a writer, illustrator and queer culture researcher living in the south of England. In 2020 she graduated with a BA (Hons) in Illustration and received a 1st for her dissertation titled "Digestible Queer Culture; LGBT+ Teen Movies in the Mainstream.  (2019)." The term "Digestible Queer Culture" was coined by herself.

Ashleigh's undergraduate research has been presented live at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research 2021 hosted by Leeds University and The University of Portsmouth's Festival of Diversity and Inclusion 2021.

​

Her graduate illustration work featuring a self produced colouring book around the History of Drag. has been featured on the Curated People page on The Dots. Her profile has been in the top 2% of illustrators.

​

Ashleigh's illustration work centres around portraiture and nature themes. Her identity as a queer creative is woven into all portfolios of work. She was the sole artist for The University of Portsmouth's "LGBT+ History Month: Queer Icons Exhibition (2019)." Recognised by Sue Sanders. She also created artwork for "The Women's Activism Research Project (2018)."

Currently, Ashleigh is editing "The Outsiders" a YA novel on the fragility of emotions and anxiety around life, love and careers in your early 20's. With a bit of time travel for added excitement.  Her untitled novel on love and support within queer found families is also in it's writing stage. Her short articles based around queer history and pop culture can be found on Medium.
